I don't feel like this web site is for me anymore, only because I no longer work for Wal Mart. But I am here to say that there is life without WalMart. I got a nice job at a Texas based grocery store, where they offered me more money with less hard labor. And better benefits than WalMart. But since leaving my old WalMart store, I have found out that one manager as shot his self, and now another has had a heart attack. Is this what WalMart call's Every Day Low Pricing? I want to make a call on anyone who reads this to say no to WalMart! Their clothes are out of style and don't last long. And I would rather spend my money at stores like Target, that have better quality of, well, everything.

Gee I remember a time I was getting 8-12 % increases every 6 months UNTIL Unions came in and got 3%. of course those union dues were 2.8% but hey who's counting when you had lazy workers who were getting 0-1% increases excited for 3? Unions are great for those in life threatening jobs,. Sorry but Office work not life threatening.

Here is a good story for everyone how much the telecommunications company I worked for loved me. After returning to work following what was to be a simple medical procedure and dying to be saved then rushed to heart cath and to suffer strokes and be airlifted and put in a hyperbaric chamber to get rid of air bubbles in my heart . Upon returning to work for half days then full days my boss made my life a living hell, they were being very petty on everything I did, talking about me behind my back to my co-workers ,writing me upetc. So adviced by my dr. to go back ill ,which I did they would visit my home to make sure I was home and really sick. It has come to the time I had to retire after 30 and a half years at the age of 49. Not a good bye thank you nothing. Thanks for listening it helps, all I can say to the bosses is what goes around sometimes comes around. You never know what is going to happen inn your life.

I hate my part time job at Kwik Trip because I never get weekends off and because I am on unemployment from a full time job. If I even ask for one day off they sayI could have worked that day. In truth a computer makes the shedule no one knows if work was available. I was told by HR that they always assume you would have worked. I normaly work about 20 hours a week and any day I ask off, they tell unemployment I missed work and I lose money. That means I can not plan anything, even Dr. apointments.

Dust, noise, fumes; they just come with the territory. But I love my job, just now. I am a union electrician, work in Utah, and work for one of the better employers in our little world. We strive to increase safety, and can complain and get results without being punished for complaining. We are skilled, cooperative, and unafraid. Not many workers can say the same thing. Our employer, though powerful, tries to empower and respect us, and knows that through harmony we give more each day with our tools and minds. I have been a union worker for over forty years, and am grateful for it, despite the exposure to toxics, including asbestos (1970), loss of hearing, and arthritis. I have dignity, respect, and a decent paycheck. I will be continuing my college studies soon at the University of

Add to that the American truck driver, of the over 3 million, only 1 out of 10 is a union member. 90% are not covered by FLSA laws. In this century, can you believe it? When your employer's paycheck bounces, who do you turn to if you can't go to the Labor Board? I've worked for companies that were as crooked as a horseshoe, where they stole my earnings and kept it for themselves. All the while cracking the whip to get me to get their freight somewhere on time.

Without exception, trucking companies use intimidation, blackballing, and coercion to control drivers. Home time is meted out grudgingly at best. I've been forced to stay away from home for months at a time. Sleep patterns are chronically disrupted, setting the driver up for a myriad of health problems. And yet, the driver is over-regulated by the D.O.T. when it should be the companies being regulated.

I am home now, because I was forced out of my job, due to high blood pressure. It came from sleep deprivation and abuse of my sleep/rest patterns. It came from pressure to perform that which is unsafe and/or illegal. It came from too little balance in my life, which limited my time to exercise or eat anything but fast food (like there's anything else available to drivers). And it came from general abuse by the company. Stress.
The company doesn't want to pay worker's comp, because they say it's just "part of the job."

I say, No one should be forced to sacrifice their health for a job. No job is worth your health!

I hate my job because they don't tell us the rules or procedures, they said I wouldn't need to know it. I asked if I could see anyway. They said no, then I do something wrong that they said I didn't need to know. Then I don't follow that procedure that they said I didn't need to know how to do and they cut my hours over more then half. Even though I asked what it was and they would not tell me.

I feel like that is unfair even though they wouldn't even tell me where to look the procedures up!
